Was not looking forward to Thanksgiving here, not only fantasy football decisions, but seeing people I wasn't looking forward to seeing (hello sister), but it worked out, and the first two games worked out pretty well for me, so hopefully the nightcap follows suit, lol C'mon Stevenson and Jefferson!

Buddy of mine invited me to DraftKing's contest comprised of Thanksgiving Day games. $10 entry fee, and prizes for 1st, 2nd 3rd etc. This was my first shot at a "daily" fantasy football contest. Out of 27 entrants, I finished #2; won $60. I'm in with this league now, so will be submitting lineups and entering contests from week 12 and beyond.

Well it was a nightmare of a Thanksgiving for me.

Same here.   I felt pretty good about my team going in.  Seems like I've had key players on bye forever.  And never playing the dude that has anyone on bye.   Anyway...turned on the Bills/Lions about halfway through the 3rd quarter.   Wanted to see the whole game but we were hosting T'giving so I was given stuff to do.  Insert mad emoji.   Anyway, I had St. Brown so I was pretty happy by the end of the game.  That's when s**t when downhill.   When he got the TD, I stood up and gave a "Yeah!"...not knowing that in the kitchen, the women were talking about my sister in laws husband cheating on her.   She stormed into the living room and got in my face about cheering for that.  Before I could explain that I had no idea what she was talking about, she slapped me.   Then one of our dogs (we have three) jumped off the couch and went straight at her (this is a German Shepard btw).  She tried to backpedal into the kitchen but fell over one of my nephews (who's about three).   On her way down, her head caught the platter of turkey which was sitting on the buffet and that brought the whole tray of meat onto the floor.  By that point, the other two dogs were trying to figure out what was going on.  When they saw the turkey on the floor, they hauled a** to get to it.   My cousin thought all the dogs were going after my sister in law and he pulled out his gun and started shooting at them.   That woke up granny who had been napping and she came out of the guest room with a shotgun.  She thought that my cousin was shooting at my sister in law so she blasted him with both barrels.  By that point, our German Shepard had pretty much torn my sister in laws face off.   Kids are screaming...no one knows what's gong on.   Turkey's been pretty much inhaled by the other two dogs (French Poodle, and a Heinz 27...they weren't hurt at all).  Meanwhile, I'm OK because St. Brown had a great game.  But when I'm checking my lineup, I also see that I started Gabe Davis.

I have Taysom Hill in two leagues, and am benching him because I believe he is going to come up small yet again.

However, in case he goes off, I just put 2 hedge bets:

Scores 1 TD $20 pays $66

Scores 2 TDs $20 pays $540!!!

I’ll circle back later to tell you why and how I still end up losing.

But bigger picture: I’m kind of loving the hedge technique for a guy you feel shaky about benching but bench him anyway.

Well. I got my $66 and an incredible ride. Thought the 540 was possible and got close enough to cause pain.

But it was fun. And Taysom on my bench would have had no impact on either game where I sat him.

The hedge prop bet for FOMO bench players: Strongly recommend. Will do again.

Good news is, faced Davante Adams, against him, I'll take 8 pts against any day of the week, lol

Bad news is, same opp had Moreau in his lineup and switched him for Everett last second, woulda been sweet to have that goose at his TE score, lol, oh well

In order to have a shot at the playoffs, I not only needed to win, I needed to win by 72 points. I'm up 65 and I have the Pats D left.

Also need Hopkins and the Cards D to outscore Stevenson by about 5.

I'd say it's a 50% shot right now, which is wild because it was maybe 1% to start the day.

Despite any depth I had being completely cattled by injuries (Kupp, Goedert, Javonte Williams, Bateman, Elliott for a small chunk, Gordon) or busts (Sutton, Davis, Edmonds, Gordon again, lol), I still managed to sneak into the playoffs as the last seed, even while starting both D'Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams since Week 9, somehow went 4-2 in that span with one loss by less than 3 pts, lol

Engram was huge for me this week, as was the game winning TD by Elliott (after one of my Flex's Gallup dropped one the play before, lol). Opp's Waddle and Hebert were just quiet enough to give me the W, have to be like 5 two pt stat corrections for me to lose, lol

10 team 0.5ppr, 6 teams make it to playoffs.

Started 0-6 (drafted Najee, Kamara, Etienne, DJ and Elijah Moore w 5 of 7 first picks...), won 6 of the next 7 rounds and would secure playoffs with a win in GW14. I had a bad week, and needed Waddle and Hopkins to get less than 16 points to win. By som miracle they both underperformed and I got a playoff spot with 7-7 record. Tough year.

It was a nice run, but now I have to chose between Najee, Walker, Etienne and McKinnon as my to rbs. GG.

Below is my main local league of 13 years.  This was the closest I've ever seen this league, are honestly any league ever.  12 team ppr, 6 teams make the playoffs.  We had a SEVEN way tie for 5th.  5th, 6th, and 7th were separated by only 10 total points.  8th another 21 behind.

Thought it was interesting enough to be a CSB.

In a league where there are 3 divisions, chosen at random at the start of the year. Each division winner gets a top 3 spot, top 2 get a bye. Teams in a division play each other twice, and each other team 1 time.

******** somehow, 1 division had the 4 worst teams, with the least points in the league, who all leached wins off each other, and 3 of them made the 6 teams playoffs with the 12th/11th/9th least points in the league.

I played in a CBS league many years ago with divisions. Stupidest **** ever and just added even more randomness to the game

Agreed.  We have two divisions in my friends league.  The top three teams were all in one division and I won the other division with an OK team but had a cakewalk because the two most hapless, unengaged managers were also in my division.  I was gifted the division from the word 'go.'

  • 2 weeks later...

To illustrate the total randomness of this game; I just beat the #1 seed (12-2 record and the most points scored by a pretty large margin) fielding an all around suspect lineup, here it is:

QB: Rodgers (I lost Hurts)

WR: Chase (down game), Goodwin (zero, nada)

RB: Barkley, Moss

TE: Freiermuth

FLEX: Dotson

K: McLaughlin

DST: Baltimore

Almost all of his players outside of Ekeler and Conner had a down week and I sent him packing with a squad full of bums. He also had Higgins, Higbee and NE defense on his bench. Had he played any one of these, he would have won because I beat him by 3 points. I know he gotta be salty right now.
