Man I would love to get into this league some time with all you fine upstanding cretins ❤️

Tatum at 11 feels like the steal of the first round dam

I don’t think the steal of the draft can really come in the first round.

I prepared for all avenues. I feel relatively confident. Ready to hang a banner! And win that T-Shirt 😁.

I like McConnel and Dinwidie picks, both seems to be flying under the radar.  Where did you pick them?

McConnell was actually on waivers. Picked him up today. Dinwiddle I drafted at 104.

I staired at McConnell and Ayo Dosunmu from Chicago on my watch list for awhile. I grabbed McConnell because of the tank and the path is clearer for backup duty.

Not long after, I kid you not, Dosunmu was claimed. So yeah. This **** is serious.

Nic Claxton is the definition of "?". Upside + he's on a island by himself on that depth chart. But his free throw potential volume has me on caution.

Yeah the trey one was a doozy. However with the addition of Murray his ranking could be anywhere from around 7 - 20.  Coz of the low stocks even a tiny dip in points n assists equates to a wide range in ranking.

A few notes:

Giannis: I was dead-set on drafting Skinny Luka at 4 until I remembered how shallow the Center position is, on top of Yahoo requiring two of them. Center Giannis? OK then.

"Scary Terry": Worst nickname ever for an athlete. 🤢. But besides LaMelo, someone has to pick up the slack in CHA.

Ben Simmons: Wild card. Could be a monster or could miss the entire season with weird issues. At this point in the draft I was on my third beer. 🤷‍♂️ 🍺

Walker Kessler: What the heck is going on in Utah? No one knows, but someone has to take Gobert's role. Kessler averaged 4.6(!) blocks in college. We'll see, I guess.

Isaiah Jackson: Handcuff if/when Turner gets traded or his foot falls off his leg, whichever comes first.

Brook Lopez: My internet connection completely crashed at this point and when I returned to the draft I saw that I auto-picked Brook Lopez and all the other guys in the draft were laughing in the chat room.

Dillon Brooks: Because one can never have too many "Brooks" on your fantasy team, apparently. That, and 18+ ppg with your last pick can possibly be useful.

I don't mind at all if we share standings and have a running league blog.  I'll post my team below with a bit of commentary:

12 Damian Lillard

13 LaMelo Ball

36 Robert Williams- Happy to take the injury risk tradeoff here.  Even if he misses 20 games, he's worth the 36th pick.  Even better if he sees a slight playing time bump (29.6 min/g last year).

37 Donovan Mitchell- Wasn't expecting him to drop here.  Understand a trade to NYK could crowd him a little, but even then he should still get 18-20 shots a game.  Best case- he starts the year in Utah and goes nuts.

60 OG Anunoby

61 Mikal Bridges- Taking the 9 cat roto specialist in the 9 cat roto league.

84 Jerami Grant

85 Wendell Carter

108 Lauri Markkanen- Love when I can get established players in their same role from last year when they've proven to deliver.  69th per game last year.

109 Herbert Jones- Same as above.  77th per game last year.  Yes, Zion is being added in, but Herb's role and minutes should be very similar.  Doesn't depend on usage.

132 Markelle Fultz- One of the best available dart throws remaining.  Clear path to at least 28-32 minutes.  Orlando's offense is much improved; if Fultz pops I have options to trade AST/STL from a position of strength.

133 Cameron Johnson- Some odd trade buzz around Jae Crowder this offseason.  Optimistic that his role opens up and Cam will take it and run.

156 Jonathan Kuminga- Seeing how the GSW rotation shakes out before I dump either Kuminga, Donte or both.

157 Donte DiVincenzo

Man, you got multiple steals nearly every pick after the 2nd round. Your fg% is sketchy tho because you have a ridiculous amount of threes and you could use more blocks and assists. I personally think Fultz is worthless so he won't help.

StifleTower

1.(6)Stephen Curry (GSW - PG):

Initially had the 11th pick, and most of my mock experience was from that position. and traded for the 6th pick.  I intended to pick Giannis but knew there was a chance someone picked him before me and either Towns or Curry would fall.

2.(19)Kawhi Leonard (LAC - SG,SF)

Considered Hali here but Kawhi was the person who had the most chance of being a top 7-8 player.  While there are a horde of late round wings, there aren't too many wings who can return first round value, so just from a position and upside sense I picked Kawhi.

3.(30)Fred VanVleet (TOR - PG)

Not really a huge fan of FVV which makes it funny that I keep picking him.  I intended to pick a big here, but my targets went earlier than expected.  I know he struggled late last year but it was literally just his shot, otherwise he's been extremely consistent for three years.  I don't think he will quite hit 3.7 threes next year, that was a bit of an outlier, but everything else is stable: 20/4.3/6.5;  3.5/1.7/.6  His biggest issue will always be FG% because half of his scoring comes from threes and he's not a great finisher due to his diminutive size.  He's surprisingly decent at rebs/blocks for a guard of his size, though.  Low TO for his usage too, all three of my stars are low TO for their position actually.  Top 15 like he did last year is likely his ceiling, but I think top 30 is more his floor.

4.(43)Chris Paul (PHX - PG)

Again, I didn't really intend to pick three-point guards out of my first four picks, but people were more aggressively picking bigs than I anticipated.  I didnt really need a third point guard but there's just no way I could let CP3 go to someone else around 45.  I considered Turner just for the blocks but there's just no way I'd pick him over CP3 who was top 20 last year and played 65 games.  CP3 is like a game of hot potato, no one wants to be holding the hot potato when he retires, but until then he should produce another year of second round value.  Might lead the NBA in assists/steals.

5.(54)John Collins (ATL - PF,C)

6.(67)Clint Capela (ATL - C)

My 2,3,4th picks were all steals imo.  These two went about where they should. I wanted JV over Collins and Nurk over Capela, but they went right before my turn.  One good thing is that I can sort of cuff these two.

7.(78)Jamal Murray (DEN - PG,SG)

Another guard who was potentially an absolute steal and was surprised he fell this far.  Last time he played he ranked 32 and he's coming into the preseason healthy.  It's 9 cat roto so I don't really mind if he sits b2b or whatever.  Pretty reliable 20/4/5 with 2+ threes and 1+ spg, efficiently.

8.(91)Draymond Green (GSW - PF,C)

Maybe he's declining but still a top 100 player for sure.  He was always awkward for his terrible scoring, poor efficiency, and if Points/TO ratio was a thing he'd be the worst in the league.  That said, he was the best remaining player at rebs/blocks which I felt I need.  Capela will be one of my C, and either Draymond or Collins will be the other while the other will be PF.  I was already killing assists/steals prior to this but getting 7 assists/1.4 steals out of position this late just seals it.

9.(102)Jaren Jackson Jr. (MEM - PF,C)

Considered Conley here.  If he stays in Utah he will probably be top 75 per game, but sat once they're out of contention, and if he's traded he will have a very marginal role.  And I didnt need another PG.  FG/Rebs were almost a lost cause at this point but if JJJ can play 50 games and get 100 blocks it takes me from being well below average in blocks to above average.

10.(115)Bogdan Bogdanovic (ATL - SG,SF)

One of my favorite late rounds targets, should go much earlier imo.  Finished top 70 last season, top 35 to finish the last two months once his hand was healed, was top 50 the seaosn before that.  In sum has been a top 50 player for 80% of his time in Atlanta.  You may think Murray will squeeze him out a bit, but the Hawks have no depth, and it's probably better that he comes off the bench anyway.

11.(126)Jonathan Isaac (ORL - SF,PF)

Dart throw based on him looking good in the preseason.  I've done the math on the Magic and I still think he will get 24-25 MPG.  In 2019-2020 he finished top 20 on only 28.8 mpg.  I think he can be around 11/6 with 3.5 stocks.  If JJJ and Isaac pan out I go from one of the worst blocks teams to one of the best and considering how my draft went I think I need to throw some hail mary's.

12.(139)Will Barton (WAS - SG,SF)

I think Barton will have a good year.  Perenial top 100 guy who should get more usage this year.  Beal is more of a scorer.  While Morris is one of the best bench PGs in the league, he will be anemic as a starter.  Barton should have no problem going 15/5/5 with 2 threes, 1 steal, .5 blocks.  I have so many dart throws and injury prone guys that I needed a layup, a bit surprised such a solid guy was available.

13.(150)Tari Eason (HOU - SF,PF)

Just another dart throw.  His upside is a more athletic, bigger, stronger, younger Roco.  Might get run in Houston this year, who knows.

14.(163)Kyle Anderson (MIN - SF,PF)

Slomo was a good acquisition for MIN.  They gave up a lot of depth for Gobert.  Similar to Bogdan, I almost hope he comes off the bench bc he might see more usage then/could be their bench ballhander.  Last time he played 27+ mpg he was top 75 value.  12/6/4 with 1.5 threes, 1.5 steals, .7 blocks is possible.

Thoughts:

Excellent: Should be near the top in assists, steals, FT%, TO, and threes.  You don't often excel in both assists and TO but my early round stars were all high assist/low turnover guys and after that mostly low usage/TO instead of Draymond.  Aside from Capela/Draymond who have very low free throw volume, my other players are excellent free throw shooters.  Should finish 81%+ as a team.  Starting with Curry and FVV gives me the top two three-point shooters from last year per game and I was leading threes after three rounds.  Didn't really prioritize threes after that.  Threes will depend to a certain extent on whether I need to play Bogdan/Barton, playing those guys a ton of games will be worse for my team overall, but will clinch threes.

Decent: Points.  Curry, Kawhi, FVV is as good as start as any in that cat.  Picking CP3/Capela/Draymond three out of my next five picks tanked it.  I rarely focus on points in roto anyway.

Precarious: FG, Rebs, Blocks.  FG% was never going to be good after picking littles the first four picks.  My saving grace could be if Curry returns to his historical average of 46-48% instead of 43%.  If Curry shoots below 45%, along with FVV being one of the worst at FG%,  then FG% will be terrible.  Rebs is much the same.  I'm a guard heavy team.  JJJ can rescue blocks but is a terrible rebounder.  My guards are good rebounders for their position but there's just no way to finish above median.  Blocks are reliant on JJ playing 50 games/getting 100 blocks and Isaac doing similar.  Good news is that if JJJ and Isaac get 100 blocks I'll be doing quite well.  Bad news is that those two are dart throws.

Wasn’t planning on getting Wood at the end of the 5th so unless AD remembers how he used to shoot FT’s I’ll be low in that cat.

Also wasn’t planning to get Ball that late. I was planning on the Brunson Burner with the good FG out of the guard position. As a result I’m def lower than I want to be on that cat. Hence I’ll be trying to move some pieces to improve my FG.

I don’t have an elite points guy but should be fine on average looking at my team overall, but  need to keep an on it.

Everything else I’m liking.

Lol. Sddiiq bottom of the barrel?
👀. Tbh I prob need to keep him anyways. Somehow he’s my only starting eligible SF. Only other SF is Poku but he on bench. Meanwhile I have 9 eligible PG’s. Lol. It used  to be the opposite back n the day.

Would it be possible to post updates on the standings few times during the season?  For the rest of us it would be interesting to see who can  back all the talk in this forum with the results.
