2022 MiLB Call-up Watch Thread

Message added by tonycpsu,

This thread is for discussion of confirmed and/or imminent call-ups.  If you've seen news that someone has been called up, or informed speculation from reputable sources that someone may be on their way to the show soon, feel free to share these items with the community here.  Do not ask "who's going to be called up next?" -- that's what the thread is for, so asking is superfluous.  Also, do not use this thread for deep dives into specific minor league players -- that's what their MiLB outlook threads are for.

Recommended Posts

I hope I'm not overstepping/breaking protocol by starting this thread but felt it was as good a time as any now that we know we'll have a season.  Also, I feel it is more important this year to start this thread before the season starts with the new incentives in the CBA for teams to have prospects on opening day rosters.

I'll follow the same outline given for last year's thread by @Baur10 as he did a great job explaining the main purpose for this thread in 2021:

In previous years there was a thread dedicated solely to imminent call up news for minor league players (ex:  player X is being called up, there was an injury at the MLB level and player Y was pulled from their minor league game, etc).  That way you can follow the thread and get quick alerts to act on player promotions.

REMINDER: this thread is not for bench coach questions or asking about projected timelines.  The whole point is it is just call-up news not cluttered by conversation/analysis/comments so you're only getting alerts when someone is likely on the way to the show.

For further discussions on certain players, be sure to use their MiLB threads and if available because of OFFICIAL call-ups, their MLB threads.

Source? None of the typical sites are showing this as of yet.

I was wondering the same thing. The best I can come up with is this Rotowire update (I bolded the key word):

WED, MAR 16, 12:48 PM ROTOWIRE.COM

Witt is viewed as the Royals' Opening Day third baseman, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports.

Spin: Witt came up through the minors primarily as a shortstop, but Adalberto Mondesi is expected to begin the season there. Instead, Witt could open his major-league career at the hot corner, which is a slightly less demanding position defensively. Mondesi logged some time at third base last season as well -- the Royals' lineup features a lot of flexibility around the infield.

With the trade of Austin Meadows to Detroit 1st rounder Josh Lowe is going to be the everyday RF for Tampa.

Rays recalled OF Josh Lowe from Triple-A Durham.

Lowe takes over as the Rays' primary right fielder after Austin Meadows was traded to the Tigers on Monday evening. The 24-year-old outfielder appeared in two games in Tampa Bay last year and recorded a sublime .291/.381/.535 triple-slash line with 22 homers and 26 stolen bases across 470 plate appearances at Triple-A Durham. He projects as a potential five-category impact contributor and should be rostered in all fantasy formats.

Nick Lodolo getting the call and start for Wednesday 4/13 per espn:

"The Reds announced that Lodolo will have his contract selected from Triple-A Louisville in advance of his scheduled start Wednesday against the Guardians in Cincinnati.

Spin: Manager David Bell heavily implied at the end of spring training that Lodolo would break camp as a member of the Cincinnati rotation, but the Reds delayed adding the 24-year-old lefty to the 40-man and 28-man active rosters until a fifth starter was first needed Wednesday. Lodolo should make at least two turns through the rotation before the Reds return either Luis Castillo (shoulder) and Mike Minor (shoulder) from the injured list, and whether the rookie sticks around with the big club on a more permanent basis will likely hinge on how he performs in his initial MLB action. Between his stops at Double-A Chattanooga and Triple-A Louisville in 2021, Lodolo was one of the minor league's most dominant pitchers. He made bats miss at a prolific clip (38.8 strikeout rate) and generated groundballs at a 54 percent clip over 50.2 total innings."

Expectations?

Rockies recalled INF Elehuris Montero from Triple-A Albuquerque.

Advice: He's replacing the injured Kris Bryant (back) on the team's active roster. It's the first trip to the big leagues for the 23-year-old infielder. He was off to a solid start at Triple-A, slashing .288/.356/.450 with four homers, 12 RBI and two stolen bases in his first 20 games. He's not in the starting lineup for the Rockies on Friday though as he isn't expected to arrive until mid-game.

Alex Faedo scheduled to make his debut the first game of the double header tomorrow for DET. Hopefully the rain out today doesn't change that. Probably only useful in leagues where there are very few SP's on waivers, but he's looked good so far in the minors this year. 5IP 8K 4H 0R in his last start at AAA. Likely a spot start, but never know with the injuries Detroit has currently.
