When you're losing and no one is schemed to get open, you still have to throw the ball. That's one way interceptions happen. I don't think Tanny is the second coming, but I thought he was serviceable on some bad Miami teams, and he played very well for basically two whole seasons in Tennessee. We've seen plenty of terrible QBs play with great RBs, so I don't think it's fair to attribute all of his passing success to Derrick Henry.

Serviceable is fine. He's a game manager. He isn't a terrible player.

Is that the show that Jaws hosted? He was great at breaking down Xs and Os.

I think a lot of these shows just have too much time to fill and not enough content.

Yes!  And Merrill Hodge.  Good stuff.

I think there is plenty of good content, I just think that, to put it diplomatically, a lot of people don't find it entertaining enough I guess.  A good film room session can spend 10 minutes on one play if you're picking up what I'm throwing down.

I mostly just don't think Jones is particularly good. Garrett isn't an brilliant innovator, but he's not stuck in the stone ages either, IMO.

Eh I don’t think Tannehill is much better.. he’s had elite skill position players his entire time in Tennessee.. every offensive player Jones has had has been injured, that being said I don’t think he’s particularly good either.

Yeah, I was going to say something like that, just got lazy and didn't want to type anymore.

I think these shows have to appeal to the masses, and when you're keeping it at that level the conversations will get a little lame or stale after 5 hours a week. Good Morning Football has no shame and resorts to shtick like that Scepter bit with that one guy screaming like a maniac, which actually is somewhat amusing.

LOL yeah I've seen it.

I feel as though they don't even try.  I totally recognize that when you need to fill 5 or 10 or 20 hours a week or whatever it is the conversation is going to gravitate towards the lazier efforts frequently but it just seems like most of the stuff out there just lives there the whole time.

NFL Network due to their myopic focus on one sport is probably the best at it but I still feel like I'm watching some big broadcast network's morning show prattle an overwhelming majority of the time.

I guess I should just find a YouTube channel or Podcasts that can get me out of this repetitive loop.

... because it didn't sell sneakers.

fact.

It did, but I think the programming directors thought that a certain type of show would sell MORE sneakers, and it seems like everyone has that understanding without even testing to see if it's true sometimes.

Tannehill is certainly better than what they in Mariota but honestly he isnt a franchise QB... he falls in the same catg as a guy like Cousins

I was watching Sportscenter at the gym this morning, they spent as much time on Justin Jefferson's pre-game t-shirt as showing his actual highlights and he had a great game.  DO NOT CARE about what players wear, what they tweet, or what their political leanings are.  Just show the game / highlights.

He's below Cousins. In fact, there's a very sizeable difference between the two. He doubled Cousins season interception total in last game alone.

Ok, like for real what even is this "rank the quarterbacks" conversation?

Someone thinks that Ryan Tannehill is "ranked" higher than Kirk Cousins or vice versa and someone else disagrees and there is no way to empirically settle this debate in any way, shape or form.

They have different teammates, different coaches, play in different schemes in different environments against different opponents and that makes them either look better or worse.

Quarterbacks don't play in a vacuum where you can just say "this guy threw the ball further, he is better and he wins."

And even if there was some arbitrary metric or achievement that you both decided would once and for all decide these rankings, who cares?

How is this discussion so much more interesting and more valuable to so many more people than knowing what kind of line adjustments the Colts make and how the Bucs might attempt to muddle those protections with delayed blitzes, and who they might specifically use therein next Sunday?

I can't be the only person who feels this way.

You're right.

Can we REALLY say Brady is better than Jared Goff?

It's not interesting to you but it is to other people. So yes this is getting into the realm of gate keeping.

That's fine.  I feel "gate kept" by virtually every medium of sports discussion being had today because it seems like virtually everyone wants to have this inane, unresolveable type of debate 24/7 and there's no room to talk about the things that matter to me.  So welcome to my world.

There's plenty of good content out there if you actually look. It's 2021 who even watches TV anymore?

Literally millions of people?

Listen I recognize the irony of tilting at these types of windmills while also bemoaning the din of unwinnable arguments.  But sometimes I just have to vent, it would be nice if people who watched the same games I do were on the whole more interested in the aspects of it I also find interesting instead of constantly having the same types of tired conversations, typically about one of 53 different players on a respective team.

to me, it's the exact opposite ... i wouldn't give this sport one effin' millisecond of my time if i couldn't gamble on it, and, yes - my magick foosball leegs are gambling endeavors.

Your post reminded me of the classic John Oliver skit from several years ago so I had to go back and rewatch it. Still one of the funniest….
