Robert Williams 2021-2022 Outlook

Who else is taking the plunge?  Even with the health concerns I like the upside for a midround pick.  He does not strike me as MitchRob part 2, as Timelord’s game seems a little more well-rounded, having shown an ability to chip in modest contributions in assists at one point last year.  His main weakness is FT% and he could see more FTA with increased PT, but I don’t think he’ll get to the line enough to do significant damage (like Poeltl).  I could be wrong.

Umm...is it just me think Robert Williams will be bust if you draft him in 4th or 5th round?

Remember people who drafted Mitchell Robinson in mid round last season and got burned(although he was injury)? They both have similar skill set and production.I don't want to spend a mid-round pick to draft a block specialist but hurts you in many catalog,There are so many proven player I can draft in mid-round.

If I want a center who can block and get rebs,I would rather draft Poeltl or Bamba in later round

Yeah love TimeLord from last season but haven't been able to draft him because of this. Bamba has been my go to in rounds 10+

Yeah, might be similar on paper but completely different players on the court…Rob Williams is miles away from Mitch Rob offensively and defensively…I’m not comfortable taking him in the 4th or 5th round because I don’t trust the Celtics to place him in a position to suceed even tho he signed that 50mil deal (plus the brought Horford back)…I’m okay with 6th round but not sure if he’ll be there at that point

Bamba is the guy I’m targeting in all of my leagues

I think some skepticism is understandable.  I also think a 5th round price is very reasonable considering the last 3 months of 2020-21 he ranked 37th in just 22 mpg.

I’m curious to find out what the starting lineup will look like for the season because ol’ man Al has started alongside him at PF, which would be great for Rob imo.  If their starters are Smart/Schroeder, Brown, Tatum, Horford, and Williams then he should surpass 22 mpg.  I kinda doubt they’re giving him 50 million to be a 20 mpg guy, but maybe they’re still looking to increase his minutes in increments as they did last year.  We shall see.

He is elite in blocks and FG%, good on the boards, low TO’s, and can chip in a few assists and a steal if he gets starters minutes.  If he is available in the 5th and I’m looking for a 2nd big after Nurk, JV and Holmes were taken I’ll be happy being left with Timelord.

I try not to hype guys I’m looking to target because my drafts usually happen the weekend before the season, but I will second this.

Yeah, we are drafting the day before the season opener and I’ve got Bamba written all over the board…Can’t wait to watch s---y Orlando games just for him and a few others

If all goes well, he’ll be a top 30 player.

I still wouldn’t target until the 6th round. Low floor, issues with foul trouble, never played big minutes in the NBA, arrival of al horford and enes Kanter worries me some. Wouldn’t be surprised if he puts up value similar to a Mitch rob or Noel.

im fading, even if I’m in need of a centre until round 6/7.

The fact he's a guy with chronic leg issues that's already dealing with knee tendonitis should be enough to scare anybody off.  I don't think the Celtics play him 25+ mpg if they can avoid it.  They need him if they want to make the playoffs.  He's essentially going to be load managed for the rest of his career.

Didn't see a thread on the Time Lord yet. How are we feeling about him this year? He's had 2 massive games so far, one pretty good one and one weird, crappy one with really low usage. His upside is undeniably massive and he's been playing some big minutes so far. Looks like the coach is ok to start him with Horford going forward as well.

Possible top 30 guy this year or will he suffer from usage/minutes being jerked around?

Feeling great! He will not suffer or get jerked around. His minutes and role are secure. He doesn’t need high usage offensively to dominate because his value is in his stock ability.

Only thing is health. As long as he stays healthy - yes Top 30!!!!

Only thing making me nervous are his two massive games both came with Horford out and his two worst lines came with Horford active, I believe. Not that old man Al should worry us long-term... but he is messing things up a lil' bit. Or it could be small sample coincidence.

Regardless, Bob-Will has received no fewer than 28 mins in any game so far, which is huge.

You have to filter your search for “content titles” only.  I just discovered this myself.
