thebear
Hey everyone, I'm in a 12team, PPR, fantasy football league. Our draft is coming up and I'm sitting 5th overall .....and the thought of drafting two elite players from the Indy Colts came up (or another high powered offence like Cinci or Rams). What are the fantasy pro's and con's of drafting two high profile players from the same team? For example, would it be a genius move to draft Joe Addai in the 1st followed by Marvin Harrison or Reggie Wayne in the 2nd/3rd? Given the strength of Indy's offence I think it would make sense here (it's not like they get shut out a lot). For other teams I would imagine it could be dangerous (ie pairing McGahee with M Clayton or Jamal Lewis and Braylon Edwards). Another good example would be taking Rudi and Carson (or Carson and Housh). I think pairing Addai and Marvin/orReggie could be dynamite. Thanks
Bo Knows Fantasy
From my experience doing this, you'll live and die based on that team's performance. Some relationships arent as affected as others.... QB/RB is safer than QB/WR, since a WR is completely dependant on the QB. Get what I'm saying? eaglesfan
It has its pros and cons. I like the idea depending on the team. Manning/Addai is a great combination but Manning/Harrison is tougher because of the reasons the guy said above. I agree with him on that. You should be safe even if you end up with a Manning Harrison combo though because they are both studs and will get you points throughout the whole season. You should have no worries going with a strategy like this.
2Balls
You take the best player, regardless of team. I can't believe people stay away from those scenarios. If you project that Rudi is good for 1200 yards and 13 TDs and THenry is good for 1100 and 11 TDs, and you already have CJohnson, you take Rudi, period. hoffmankidd
my plan was drafting westbrook and mcnabb until mcnabb became an injury risk. i do like the idea of QB1/RB1 from a high powered offensive team though..

No way, just give me the best player available. I could care less who is teammates with who. Also, if your top 2 picks both have the same bye week then you are almost forfeiting that week unless your opponent has some top players on the bye or just has a terrible week. Football, unlike other sports, has the bye week which really makes it hurt if you have two top guys on the same team. The playoffs come when every team is off their bye so I wouldn't necessarily shy away from same team players if they are both obvious choices at the time, but I definitely would not go out of my way to have two guys at the top of my draft that are going to be on bye the same week. I usually go so far as to try not to draft a second rounder with the same bye week as my first rounder unless it's the obvious top guy remaining. Yeah I always have a schedule out to make sure I don't draft too many players with the same bye week, it also helps to draft a defense with a great matchup to fill in for you normal D if you have a deep enough of roster. DayAtTheK
I'm struggling with this as well. I have the second pick (Jackson). I'm considering a wr with my 2nd round pick. There is a chance that both Hot and Harrison will be there. The reason I bring up Harrison is, do I dare take Wayne coming back in the 3rd if he is available? I'm not a big fan of waiting until the 4th for a rb, but in most draft boards there isn't a huge difference between the last rb taken in the 2nd and the last taken in the 4th. On a side note, I had both Jackson and Bulger last year and finished 1st and 3rd because of it.
Crack Back
I had Carson and Houshyurmomma last year in my head 2 head....it was great, they connected for 9 td's and 1000 yrds. It was six points for passing TD's and 6 also for reception TD's...so every time they hooked up it multiplied by 2 the points.

I disagree. I think its good to have most of your players on a bye in the same week. Sure, that's one week your team will probably lose, but you'll have your full squad for most of the other weeks. Basically I think it's good to get it all over at once.
