Points Per Reception

Our league is debating whether or not to add a Points Per Reception (PPR) element to our scoring system. We're pretty much split on the issue, so I wondering whether you feel its a good or bad system.

I'm pro-PPR, if only because it increses the value of WR/TE relative to RB (i.e. a #3 WR becomess more valuable than #4 RB). Plus, I'm not 100% convinced there's any real value change between the #1 WR and #3 WR (i.e. #3 WR don't suddenly become as valueable as a #1 WR because of PPR). Or am I wrong?

I think PPR leagues are great for posession WR's

A guy like Wes Welker or someone like Wayne Chrebet in his prime, are & were PPR monsters. It does close the gap a little bit between your #1 & #3 WR,but it's not that much.

Your 3rd WR might start for you more on a regular basis than your #4 RB,depending on who they are & what matchups they have

I don't like PPR, you get points for the yards, why the catch? And why make the posession WRs more valuable? I think it does make them closer to the top WRs and makes the elite WRs less valuable. Why not award a point per carry for RBs and a point per attempt for QBs while you're at it? To me it's the same idea.

The idea of PPR is stupid. I catch a pass for -2 yards and gain .8 fantasy points. That being said I actually love it lol. I only play in PPR leagues. The main reason I like it is because it makes a few more running backs turn into studs, giving teams with the top 3 picks not such as big of advantage. And my in my leagues you only have to start 1 RB so it gives more options to play around with.

Never did PPR... but if your gonna get points for catches why no give minuses for drops...lol

Just playing devil's advocate.

To each his own on the way they choose to play.

I actually think that is a good idea and wouldn't mind doing that at all. I don't think any sights support that though lol.

PPR is great! It has made my league so much more interesting. I really like the way it changed the scoring system. We actually do it different than most leagues. Players dont start accumulating points for receptions until their third catch of the game. So, if a player catches 2 balls he gets no points for them but if he catches 4 balls he starts getting a point per reception starting with the third catch. We do it that way because it makes things a little more even we think.

My league actually does 1/2 PPR. Bumps value for some up a little, but not quite to the extent as full PPR.

One of my league's does the same thing.

PPR is a good thing in a deep league (12 teams or more) because it adds a few additional players to the pool of roto-viability.

I have another league that awards a point for 5 catches, another for 8, and another for 11 catches.

This rewards impact on a game.

i like ppr because it gives owners different ways to make their team competitive.particularly in deeper leagues, more players have at least some value.i like to play in varied sizes, scoring systems to challenge myself ,but the leagues that i commish are both ppr.

We had this debate in my big money league 2 years ago. About half the people were for it, the other half against it. So we split the difference and decided on 1/2 PPR.

Now going on our 3rd year everyone loves it. It's just enough reward, but doesn't over do it, and it also helps eliminate almost all ties.

We were close on the vote also and decided to try .5 per reception for the first time. I am picking 12th and am now thinking WR on the wrap around pick (13), maybe S Smith, not sure yet though.

My personal preference for FFB leagues is PPR, though with some tweaks. Overall, I think PPR is justified in that it's harder to catch a football than to receive a hand-off.

The tweaks are that receiving yards gain less points than rushing yards--i.e. 20-25 rec. yds = 1 PT, whereas 10-15 rus. yds = 1 PT.

Also, I assume that all your PPR leagues have QB incompletions as negative 1 PT?

Basically, these are somethings I believe more accurately reflect the on-field achievement into fantasy achievement.
